Nissan engineers really went all out with the design of this car and its components. I am curious to why they designed the intake valve covers the way they did. I'm sure they have a reason for it, I'm just not sure what it is. There are, in total, 5 raised sections/blocks on the intake valve covers, one of which is for filling oil (that one makes sense). The other 4 can be seen, circled in red in this picture. (Thanks Z1 for the picture) My question is, what is the purpose of these raised sections? The only reason I can think of are something relating to oiling. Is there some type of baffling that takes place in these spots or does it have something to do with the vapors? I have yet to take the baffles out of my valve covers, so I have never seen what is inside these sections.
